In a breaking news report, Yahoo () is said to have named () executive Marissa Mayer as its new chief executive.
According to a report in the New York Times, Mayer was one of the first employees ever hired at and is considered a key part of the firm's successful search business.
The move is reportedly effective on Tuesday, when Mayer will take over from interim CEO Ross Levinsohn.
Yahoo, whose shares were up more than 1% after the bell, is also due to report fiscal second-quarter results after Tuesday's market close.
