With the 2012 London Olympics in full-swing, chances are you might be glued to your TV screen all weekend watching Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte go head-to-head in the 400-meter individual medley -- and that may be a good thing.
This week, movie critics seemed less-than-impressed with Ben Stiller's poorly timed "The Watch." The alien comedy only has a 13 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. "The laughs rarely come as the actors shout their lines as if the script were written in ALL CAPS," wrote Rolling Stone's Peter Travers. If aliens aren't your thing, you could always check out Scott Speer's "Step Up Revolution," the fourth (yes, fourth) film in the "Step Up" franchise. However, USA Today's Scott Bowles didn't think the film had all the right moves. "It has two left feet," he wrote.
Over in TV land, some of your favorite shows aren't faring much better. AMC's "The Killing" met a bitter end after two seasons, getting canceled on Friday. Meanwhile, ABC's decision to cast Bristol Palin in their "Dancing With the Stars" all-stars season didn't do over well with TV critics. However, Palin had a few words of her own for her critics. “God provides opportunities like this for me,” she said in a statement. “It’s a positive, active show. It’s going to be awesome. Do I like to provide for my son? Yes, I do."
What do you make of these harsh critiques? Let us know what you think of this week's critical roundup below.

Bristol Fires Back At Her Critics

'The Killing' Gets Axed
<blockquote>"After much deliberation, we've come to the difficult decision not to renew The Killing for a third season. AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast."</blockquote> -- <a href="http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/07/27/killing-canceled/" target="_hplink">AMC cancels "The Killing."</a>

Passion Pit Is Going Through A 'Miserable Musical Break-Up'
<blockquote>"The follow-up to 2009's 'Manners' is a miserable break-up album masked in quirky, toddler-friendly, pop stomps. This is musical therapy we're listening to, and we've caught him in the middle of a pretty gruelling session... However, the mania to Angelakos' high-pitched vocals and darkness to his lyrics still make this new LP quite difficult to welcome in."</blockquote> -- <a href="http://www.the-fly.co.uk/reviews/album/1014402/passion-pit/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheFlyFeed+%28THE+FLY+-+Britain" target="_hplink">Harriet Gibstone, <em>The Fly</em></a>

Should You Watch 'The Watch?'
<blockquote>"...the laughs rarely come as the actors shout their lines as if the script were written in ALL CAPS. Can 'Step Up Revolution' Dance At The Box Office?

Can Matthew McConaughey Save 'Killer Joe?'
<blockquote>"Hardly any of these gifted actors are even remotely believable in their garish roles, which undermines any greater purpose in the incessant exploitation. (KFC certainly won't be pleased with their product's portrayal.)"</blockquote> -- <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv-movies/film-review-matthew-mcconaughey-shines-bleak-cynical-killer-joe-article-1.1122375" target="_hplink">Emily Weitzman, <em>New York Daily News</em></a>
