Cooler is a relative term today. Heat and humidity still know where we live. Dodging thunderstorms is no treat either. Get the Digit on Twitter| Discuss on Facebook
Okay everybody join in; “Gonna wash that heat right out of the air!” My apologies to Oscar Hammerstein but I am positively giddy about getting rid of this heat, at least for the weekend. Today is still a sweat-fest and storms are likely to produce more downpours like yesterday. Good news for gardens and lawns, but you bike riders might want to be wary. Shower potential drops like a rock over the weekend as do the temperatues, enjoy!
Today (Thursday): Thanks to all the left over high clouds from yesterday’s storms and more forming, sunshine may be scarce. Nevertheless, there should be sufficient rays to inch highs from the upper 80s (more clouds) into the low-to-mid 90s (fewer clouds). Humidity is sliceable.
Showers and storms are unavoidable in most areas (80% chance) with locally heavy rain possible and the risk of some flash flooding. Best chance of rain is during the afternoon, but morning acitivity is certainly possible. The risk of severe storms is lower today, but not entirely out of the question. Confidence: Medium-High
What is the Storm Threat Level?
Tonight: Thundershowers are still likely to linger into the evening (70% chance) but should dissipate after midnight. Clouds remain in place. The rains should help to drive lows down to the mid-70s in most areas. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Friday): Timing thundershowers (90% probability) is a real test today with some models bringing in rains as early as daybreak and others holding off until afternoon. In any event, prepare for more deluges with some areas likely to see rains in excess of an inch. This action keeps humidity up but temperatures down. Highs in most areas only reach the mid-80s. Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow night: Showers work overtime and linger into the evening in most areas (70% chance) but thunder dies down quickly. Don’t look for any safely dry time until late night. Lows should actually slip into the mid-to-upper 60s for a change. Confidence: Medium
A LOOK AHEADSaturday has to contend with a fair amount of clouds but most of the showers head far to our south with only a 20-30% chance lingering rains for the first half of the day. Drier air tries to sneak in and make humidity levels more comfortable. Hard to curse the clouds as they help to keep highs in the low-to-mid 80s. Evening readings should easily slip into the 70s. Overnight lows reach the mid-60s to lower 70s (suburbs-city). Confidence: Low-Medium
Sunday is picture perfect summer weather. Moderate humidity, lots of sun, only an isolated afternoon shower (20% chance) and highs mainly in the mid-to-upper 80s. Evening readings slip comfortably down to around 80 and the clear skies give us our first chance to see the crescent moon on the western horizon. Lows reach the mid-60 to low-to-mid 70s (suburbs-city). Confidence: Medium-High
Monday relaxes its guard and allows heat and humidity to start sneaking in again. Highs should manage the upper 80s to lower 90s which is child’s play after recent heat events. The risk of afternoon thundershowers also starts to pick up with a 40% chance of getting wet. Confidence: Medium
