Actor Ron Palillo, suffered a heart attack and died Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on August 14, 2012. Palillo is better known as 'Horshack' from the 70's television series, Welcome Back Kotter.
A source close to the actor says he was found by his long-time partner, Joseph Gramm around 4:00 AM. Gramm called 911 and Palillo was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Palillo was one of the memorable Sweathogs beginning in 1975, always being the first to raise his hand with the famous line, "ooo...oooo..ooo Mr. Kotter."
Kotter ended in 1979 and in the 80's Pallilo guest starred on shows including 'The A-Team', 'The Love Boat', 'Murder She Wrote', and 'CHiPs'. In 1996 he played himself on 'Ellen' several times. He also was the voice of a cartoon character on 'Darkwing Duck'.
Palillo was an educator at G-Star school of the Arts for Motion Pictures and Broadcasting. One of his colleagues said the heart attack was very unexpected and seemed to be in good health.
Palillo is the second actor from Kotter to die from a heart attack this year. Robert Hegyes died in January at the age of 60.
